How to find a J1 waiver job!!! This can be a lengthy topic to deal with, so we’ll break it up into short manageable segments. This following post is the first such post. The plan is to summarize everything in the final post sometime in the future. But we’re quite well known to not always stick to the plan! Onward, however…
Finding a J1 waiver job can be a long drawn out affair. On the other hand, it can be a very quick experience. It all depends on what your requirements from the waiver job are. It also depends on luck, of course.
Some may find the process mystifying. So, before you embark on your search, let’s give you a little overview of the whole process of finding and securing a J1 visa waiver job (henceforth referred to in this post simply as “waiver”).
- Prepare yourself for the search (and an appropriate CV).
- Search and find the jobs (you ARE going to keep some options open, aren’t you?).
- Interview.
- Sign the contract.
- File for waiver and H1B (typically done by the employer).
- IMPORTANT: Start the employment within 90 days of approval of the petition.
So, there it is, the overview. We will follow this up with a series of posts specifically on J1 waiver process.
A useful Q&A page we found is here (on the J1 Physicians Network site, we are not affiliated with those guys in any way.)
